Strengthening of primary education
Class I students were made comfortable in the school, through playful activities, rhymes and song session, short field trips to nearby parks and school campus, indoor and outdoor games, story narrations by the teachers and students, morning exercises etc. Teachers see to it that the students develop love for school and looks forward to coming to school. Class I parents were addressed by the Head Mistress and the teachers of class I to explain school’s policies to enable the parents to co-operate with the school. The ‘school Readiness Programme’ prescribed by the KVS is very useful and Strictly followed by all the teachers teaching class I.
Activity method of teaching
Children learn faster, understand better and retain their knowledge permanently if taught by activity method. All the primary teachers plan their activities in such a way that learning becomes enjoyable. Teaching by activity method is a regular and everyday method in the primary classes.
Resource room
Resource room is well stocked with teaching aids prepared by the teachers and brought from the market. Teaching aids are available in the activity Room almost for every class-every subject-every lesson. A television and V.C.D. player enables the teacher to make the students teach different topic Such as Mahabharata, Earthquake, etc. Students are also encouraged to watch National Geographic channel, Animal planet, Discovery channel And History channel to enrich their general knowledge. The use of Over Head Projectors also helps students to enjoy their learning.The resource room is equiped with two computers and an LCD projector.
Home Assignments
No homework is given in the class I and II. Classes’ III, IV and V get maximum oral home work such as reading of the lesson One taught , learning the spellings, poems , tables etc or little Written work such as objective type question or re-writing the Matter already done the classroom. The teachers try to complete all the work in the classroom itself and make sure that the student has understood the topic thoroughly.
Work Sheets
Teacher of class I and II have prepared worksheets in all the subject and make the student complete them periodically. These worksheets are very god to practice lessons and are also a testing device. Students are asked to prepare files and store these worksheet in them.
Art of healthy and productive learning
A.H.P.L. is made interesting by activities involving sticking pictures, drawings, collage making etc. on papers and scrap book, filed and preserved in the class
Co-curricular activities
C.C Activities are organized on every Sunday. These activities are programmed in such a way to bring out the talent, creativity And belongingness, team spirit and leadership qualities of the student. Winners’ work is displayed on the board in other corridor to encourage them.
Others
- Class room have wall to wall black board, which are used to reinforce the topics being taught in the class and to develop creativity of the student as this blackboard work is only done by the student on the current topics being taught in class.
- House wise display boards bring the whole corridor to life. It channelizes the competitive spirit of the gifted children and develops aesthetic sense in all.
- Flannel boards in each class are full of colorful charts making the class informative and lively. These are changed periodically.
- Sports and games syllabus is followed in the games period.
- Drawing, Music, Craft etc. are activities incorporated in the teaching- learning process by all the teachers.
- A separate teacher has been appointed to teach spoken English. Students are encouraged to read new books and narrate the continents
- Library boxes are being provided for each class to use during library periods. Students are encouraged to read new books and narrate the contents to the class.
- Teachers have their lunch at least twice a month with the class. Teacher organizes a mini party with the children, which children look forward to. They learn good eating habits thus.
- Picnics, excursions & trips are organized for all the classes of primary. The students visited Nehru planetarium, n.a.d. bird sanctuary, and discovery of India, which created interest in the rich cultural heritage of India.
- Van mahotsava, planting trees, potted plants exhibition, periodic work like weeding bring children closer to nature.
