International Womens' Day celebration
Interaction session with women naval officers at KV Mankhurd
As part of women's day celebration an interaction session was arranged between girls of class 9th and 11th with women naval officers Lt Cdr Annie Natrajan, Lt Chitra and Sarg Lt P Chandola.
The session was presided by Principal of the Vidyalaya Shri Ajaya Kumar and attended by Mrs Mukta Saxena
PGT Bio, Mrs Ainikkal TGT Eng and Mrs. Rekha Mishra TGT Maths.The naval officers began the session with an
introduction and their after their experience in Indian Navy.They enlightened the students about the scope for carreers in the
field of education, Logistics and medicine in Indian Navy.
To an enquiry from an enthusiastic student it was made clear that ladies are not combat forces but in future if
need arise they may be trained to do so. In answer to a query how to know
the date of exam , students were told to be in touch with employment newspaper
In a motivating note Lt Chitra told girls of this Vidyalaya that she was to go to navy right from class 9th and
so kept track of advertisement and applied. The energetic , Smart officers had only one message to convey to the girls of KVM never think you are less in any
way to the boys .
The most interesting part of the programme was the Question and Answer session wherein the teachers and students
put in their queries, regarding the recruitment ,career scope, selection procedure in the Indian Navy. Students

While both Lt Cdr Annie Natrajan, Lt Chitra already had their parents in Force, Sarg. Lt P Chandola said that
she was the first person in her family to join Indian Navy. Students were made aware of the
direct entry through AFMC in Medical branch and the lateral entry after MBBS. They informed that 50 percent
seats are reserved for short service commission and 50 percent for permanent. In the logistic branch students
were told that they cold join after any branch of education after graduation, since this branch looked after all
matters related to clothing, ration, getting raw material for aircraft, naval ship etc.
